The accident in Saxony-Anhalt claimed two lives. Only a 15-year-old girl was driving the car

Two people were killed and three others were seriously injured in a serious traffic accident in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt in which a 15-year-old teenage girl was the sole driver, police said on Sunday.

The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon after the teenage driver lost control of the vehicle in a slight left turn, and the car probably left the road at high speed and crashed into a tree.

According to the police, the impact was so strong that the trunk of the tree immediately broke and fell on the fully occupied vehicle. Its crew had to be rescued by firefighters.

Two passengers, aged 17 and 21, died at the scene of the accident between the villages of Wendgräben and Zeppernick, east of the city of Magdeburg. Three other people – including the female driver – between the ages of 15 and 18 were taken to the nearest hospitals in serious condition. The police are currently investigating why a 15-year-old girl was behind the wheel of the vehicle.
