A lion that escaped from a circus roamed the streets of an Italian seaside town for several hours. Residents of Ladispoli, near Rome, were asked to stay at home on Saturday night, the Guardian reported.
Videos taken by locals showed the lion walking through the deserted streets. once he almost managed to capture Kimba, but he managed to escape.
Mayor Alessandro Grando finally posted on his Facebook at 11:30 p.m. that the animal was stunned and captured nearly seven hours after its escape.
The mayor thanked the authorities and volunteers for their work. However, he added that he hopes this story will also help «put an end to the exploitation of animals in circuses».
